I don't know why I like it

This is the Twistee Treat ice cream stand, in St.Petersberg, Florida, near the beach on the Gulf Coast.

The photo was taken on a day when the sky to the east was filled with menacing dark clouds of a coming thunderstorm.

I just love places like this.

It's iconic! I love it, too.

The Twistee Treat, the pink Toe Truck, Teapot Dome service station, and the Dinosaur mini-golf all have that wonderful whimsical flavor. Thanks for the smile this morning! :)

I know why I love it. These things are unique, interesting, creative, iconically American and thanks to the McFranchise, becoming extinct.

Remember when you could drive along Route 66 and see TeePee hotels and Giant Hotdogs . I remember a hotel in Bakersfield that had what seemed like a sixty-foot tall neon cowboy. Those were the days!
